What the caps need to do to win

Montreal, Quebec, Canada 4/20/10
The Caps finnaly can breath a sigh of relief. They won 5-1 last night, and now have a 2 games to one series lead over Montreal. I'd say if we win tommorow, its over. I mean, all the pressure is on them now. We just blew them out of their own building. It was'nt even funny. All the grinders scored for the caps. Boyd Gordon, Matt Bradley, and Eric Fehr all pitched in. Now Halak got pulled, and the last thing the Canadiens want is to lose game 4. If the Caps do win, The series will go back to DC with a 3-1 series lead and will probaly close out the series. But if the Habs win, this will be a long series. So game 4 is critical for both teams(as usual). Ovechkin(who scored the other night) will really want to end the series as fast as possible, so they can get ready for the next round. So lets look to the next round, shall we? The caps play the winner of Boston-Buffalo. The Bruins have a 2-1 lead in the series, and I am hoping for them to win, being the lowest scoring team in the league. If Buffalo wins, the Caps will face Olympic hero Ryan Miller , who is always a tough task to beat.LETS GO CAPS! Playoff time everybody!

Caps Win!!!!!!!!!!!, tie series 1-1

Washington, DC 4/17/10
The caps did it. They pulled it off. I'm not sure how, but they won! What a great game. I thought the Habs had it in the bag with a 3 goal lead late in the second period, but I (fortunately) was wrong. The caps pulled another one out of the bag. With a hat trick from Nick Backstrom and 4 points from Ovi, its almost impossible for them to lose. I was really getting sick of Montreal beating us at home, but the caps pulled through for me. An unsuspecting hero tied the game for the Caps, with about a minute and a half left in regulation. 2o-year old American defenseman John Carlson beat Halak to tie. Not many people know him, so here is a short bio. Carlson is from Natwick, Massachusetts. He was drafted by the Caps in '08, but has mostly plays in the AHL for Hershey. He had one goal and 5 assists in the regular season, and has shown great improvement in the playoffs, playing in botyh games 1 & 2 for DC. Not to mention he won the world junior tournament in OT for the US in January, which really caught peoples eyes. Congrats John, and do more of that in the future. Before tonight, the caps had'nt won a playoff game at home in OT since 1998, which sent them to their only Stanaley Cup final. I hope that means something! Thanks for reading and come back soon for coverage of game 3 in Montreal.

NHL Playoff preview

All over the United States and Canada 4/13/10
The Capitals will see the Montreal Candian' on Thursday for the first game of the series. Since the Caps have home ice advantage, the first, second, fifth, and seventh games will all be played at the Verizon Center in D.C. The Caps are heavily favored, but they never seem to get big-headed. Instead of "lets go as far as we can'' as their playoff motivator, its "Stanley cup or bust". Acyually, the Caps are most peoples picks to win the whole thing. In the playoffs, you need mostly 2 things. Lots of scoring, and Goaltending. They certainly can score, having eight 20+ goal scorers and thirteen 10+ goal scorers. They caps also have great goaltending in Varlamov and Theodore, who have combined for only 11 regulation losses. Here are the matchups of the Eastern Conference playoffs:

1. Washington
8. Montreal

2. New Jersey
7. Philadelphia

3. Buffalo
6. Boston

4. Pittsburgh
5. Ottawa

Caps sweep Pens in season series

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 4/7/10
The Washington Capitals have sweept the pittsburgh penguins in the regular season with a 6-3 win last night. A big factor in this series(other than ovechkin) has been Mike Knuble. He has scored in all 4 games against pittsburgh this season. As for Ovi, he scored 7 goals in the series! But for the pens, who have also been swept by their rival New Jersey, it doesn't seem to affect them. They have gone 0-8 against those teams, yet still have their mind set on the playoffs. Also the goal scoring title (or the rocket richard trophy) is heating up. With 2 games left, it is between 3 players: Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, and Steven Stamkos. Alex and Sid both have 48, and Stamkos has 47. If you don't know, Stamkos is an early prospect in Tampa Bay, and has a great shot. I hope Ovi wins. Crosby doesn't deserve it. The reason those 2 are close is because Alex was injured for 10 games, and suspended for 5. So, it would'nt be right for Crosby to win, who hasn't missed a game this season. The Caps will face 2 pretty bad defensive teams in Boston and Atlanta, so Ovi should hve an edge. Good luck Alex!

REDSKINS AQUIRE MCNABB!

Ashburn, Virginia 4/5/10
The Redskins aquired Eagles quarterback Donovan Mcnabb yesterday for a second round draft pick in this year's draft. This is very exciting. I just hope this isn't another mistake by Dan Snyder. So now, I 'm pretty sure it's safe to say bye-bye Jason Campbell! With the Redskins stacked with talent at QB, I domt think that position will be a problem. So right now they have 2 pro-bowlers, a super bowl champion, and a heisman nominated quarterback all on the same roster. I'm not sure you can ask for more. But, keep in mind that Mr. Snyder has done stuff like this in the past, and he has come up way short of expectations(Just think of Mark Brunell!). So it will not be long until Jason Campbell asks for a trade. So I'm sorry if you LIKE him(even though I'm not sure who would) he will be parting from DC very soon. Although they might keep him... Anyway this also means they probaly won't go for Sam Bradford this year, and will probaly get a good offensive-lineman instead. That's all for now, keep coming back(Sorry I haven't posted in a while, Iv'e been busy lately with my birthday).
